Lots to Be Thankful for

We have had a wonderful weekend and are now approaching Thanksgiving!! And Thanksgiving is at our house this year!! We are very excited! Aaron and I are going to the grocery store during my lunch break today to buy all the fixin's!! And of course mom, dad, Sandy and Beverly are bringing yummy things too! It is a family tradition, the day after Thanksgiving to decorate the tree, and pull out all of the Christmas Decorations!
This will be our first Thanksgiving and Christmas as a family, all 4 of us together, in a actual house with a fire place, and we are super excited. What more could we ask for? I am trying not to go over board with the gifts, but you know how that can be. I have bought a few items, but not near done yet! And to all you people who are completly done with all of there shopping this year, well good for you! I keep vowing to get it done earlier in the year, but have not fully mastered that yet. The "after Thanksgiving sales" with hopefully help with the squueze on the bank account.
Well, Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

Psalm 69:30 I will praise God's name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving.

God's Promises to Us

Thanksgiving is near and every time this year I am overcome with joy at how much we have to be thankful for. We are blessed beyond our wildest dreams, from the simplest of things, like we had a great dinner together as a family last night, to the greatest things, like we have our health, and jobs and love, and God.

How many times have you heard the 23rd Psalm? Probably a hundred times, just like me. But just recently I have been reading it daily. Aaron suggested that I read it to the kids every night before they go to sleep, as part of our night time routine, as we have been having some trouble lately with going to sleep (when I say we I mean the kids, Aaron and I could fall asleep anytime, ha ha). And I have read it to them over and over, I have had them read it to me over and over and over. And I have to say that it is such a powerful Psalm. The kids have taken to heart these words, and they are not scared at night anymore. They look forward to hearing it, even asking to read it to me. And I have learned more and more by reading it over and over of God's love for us. No wonder people of all ages in all situations have turned to that Psalm in times of comfort and joy. My own Grandma Dale would say it in prayer sometimes adding her very own promise from the Lord at the end "...and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever, with my husband".
God's 12 promises to us in Psalm 23 are so amazing to read over and over. And they make me feel even more thankful for God's love for us.

He is our leader, our King.
He will take care of our every need.
He lets us rest and rejuvenate.
He keeps our thirst quenched.
He recharges our spirits.
He keeps us on the straight and narrow.
He keeps us from harm. More than that, he literally stands by us and shoves evil out of our way, and pulls us back when we are teetering on the edge! Sometimes we aren't even aware!
He recognizes us when others dismiss us.
He cleanses us. Whiter than snow.
He blesses us abundantly.
He endlessly pursues our love and devotion.
And we will live with the Lord in heaven forever.

Can it get any better than that? I just wanted to remind every one of this Psalm that is so powerful and brings so much comfort and spread a little Thanksgiving love.
